How To: Newspaper Nails

My best friend came to school today with "newspaper nails".  Unfortunately, I have gel nails on right now for my trip but I guarantee you this will work!

Found off Google Images

Materials needed:
- Newspaper Print
- Rubbing Alcohol/Vodka
- Bowl
- Towel
- Light Nail Polish
- Clear Top Coat

1) Paint your nails a light nail polish colour, white works best against the black print.
2) Pour the alcohol into the empty bowl do not pour too much, use your judgement.
3) Dip your newspaper (make sure it does have words!) into the bowl of alcohol.
4) Place the wet newspaper over your dry nails, you can use the towel to press down on the newspaper.
5) Hold for about 15-25 seconds.
6) Remove newspaper.
7) Apply top coat of needed - the newspaper might give you a matte effect.

So that is it everyone, enjoy your new chic, newspaper nails.  You will sure bet that I will do this once I get my gel nails off!  Send me a picture of you rocking this look and let me know if you try it!

Review: Tory Burch Reva Ballet Flats

Tory Burch flats are no doubt GORGEOUS, but how comfortable are they? Each time I wear them I will tell you how they feel and if they hurt.  Keep reading, this review will go up until the time I wear them to Europe (because that's where all the walking happens).  Keep reading to read my experiences with these US $195 shoes!

DAY ONE: March 27, 2011

So today was my first day with the shoes and of course, there was some snow on the ground and it was a bit windy.  When I put them on everything seemed fine and everything was comfortable.  I walked around the a few places wothout a hitch.  After about 3 hours I felt pain on the sides of the front sole of my feet and it continued to bother me throughout the rest of the day!  I walked around for about 2 hours after that.  I did expect it to hurt a lot on the first day though.  To be honest this could have been avoided if I had vasaline! It's good that I broke them in a bit though and these did hurt a lot but not as much as when I had to break in my Fyre Cowboy boots!

DAY TWO: April 2, 2011

My second day wearing my new shoes!  I did not do as much walking this time but I still felt a bit of pain.  After about 2 hours of walking around the side of my pinky toes really hurt about 30 minutes later the pain shifted ti the back of my right foot.  I have no idea why but my right foot was always feeling more pain.  Throughout the rest of the day both my pinky toes were hurting me. However, the pain is getting easier to bear.

DAY THREE: APRIL 9, 20ll

This time I was wearing it, I did something a bit different, I ran!  Yes, I ran around a yard for about 10-15 minutes chasing my cousins.  It actually did not hurt while running.  I went to a musical today because as I said before, my school is focussed on the arts and I was invited to visit our school musical and might I say it was amazing.  For most of the day they were comfortable.  However nearing the end my pinky toe on my right foot felt slight pressure that made it uncomfortable.  As you can see the pain is fading!

DAY FOUR: APRIL 16, 2011

I wore them INSIDE today.  We celebrated my mom's birthday today with my extended family.  My mom's birthday is actually on April 25 - Easter Monday.  She got a lot of cute things - my brother and his girlfriend bought her a Burberry wallet.  Anyway, I wore them around the house for hours and guess what? NO IRRITATIONS.  The only complain I have is that, they made my feet sweaty but them again there were 30 people over and it wasn't exactly that cold.  So, it probably was not because of the shoes.  Anyway, I think they are broken in, tomorrow I will where them outside and tell you what I think about them and if they hurt but for now, they do not bother me they slightest bit.  This might mean they are broken in!

DAY FIVE: April 17, 2011

I can happily say... my Tory Burch's are officially broken in!  They do not hurt my feet at all.  These shoes have quickly become one of my favourite pairs and I get a lot of compliments on them.  In my opinion, these were worth the splurge.  If your feet are still growing then you may want to wait before purchasing these but once broken in they will become one of the most comfortable walking shoes.

Haul: April 9, 20ll - Forever 21, Aritzia, Pink, Sephora and MORE!

So yesterday I went shopping and picked up a lot!  Since, I am going to Europe I needed to pick up a few things.  This is probably going to be quite long so let's start!

Item #1:
love 21 Relaxed Tencel Top
I picked up this cute top at Forever 21 for $13.50 I think... I actually do not have the tag anymore.  I love the colour of it!  It is quite sheer and baggy so to add some shape I wear a belt under my bust of at my waist.  I think this is so easy to pull off!

Item #2:
Heritage 1981 Basic Top Short Sleeve V Navy
I actually was not able to find this on the website so I snapped a picture of it with my webcam.  Anyway, this is a crop top and I know I have a lot of crop tops but this one has a V-Neck!  Oh, this is from Forever 21.  I think this would be super cute under denim jean shorts!

Item #3:
Wilfred Simone Breton Stripe T-Shirt
I got this cute find at Aritzia, one of my favourite stores.  It is a crop top.. go figure!  It is a twist on the nautical theme as the base colour is heather grey!  There is a white one but I already have a white and navy crop top.  This is probably my favourite crop top I own!

Item #4:
TNA Knee High Socks
I personally LOVE knee high socks, I have at least 7 pairs of them from TNA!  I once again had to snap a picture but you can get these at Aritzia.  These ones are black with a white stripes and a white TNA sign.

Item #5:

Victoria's Secret PINK Sleep Boxer
NOOO!  I did not get all of them I got the blue plaid one on the right column, third one down!  On it it says "You Snooze You Lose" which is descent compared to what some of the other ones say.  I just love sleeping in boxers right now, so I will be bringing them to Europe.

Item #6:
VS Pink Swim Bikini Top
I could NOT find it on the website once again, but this was too cute to pass up!  It's a string, triangle bikini top with black an white plaid and hot pink fringe detailing!  It is sooooo cute!

Item #7:
VS Pink Swim Bikini String Bottom
Hence, the matching bottoms!  It has the same pattern and detailing.  But at the back there is rushing detailing in the centre.  Also there is grey metal pieces to attach the string.

Item #8:
VS Pink Everyday Zip Hoodie

This is not the exact one I got, because PINK fails to have it on the site and it was harder to photograph. Mine is actually baby blue and has not writing, the only writing is IN the sweater in white where it says "LOVE PINK".  I got mine in a size up - Small so it would fit loosely.  Lately all girls have been doing it, bright, loose hoodies.  For that "boyfriend" look.

** NOTE: I got some other things at PINK that I will not show you for obvious reasons

Item #9:
Tweezerman 10x Magnification Light Up Travel Mirror
Since I am travelling I needed a good mirror, so I picked this up!  I LOVE IT!  You see everything, it is better than my make-up mirror.  One thing I love seeing with this is my pupils dilate, yes, you can actually see your pupils grow and shrink with this.  I figured the hotel will have a mirror but probably not a light-up magnified mirrored.  PS: It is BOMB for plucking your brows!

Item #10:
Sephora: Benefit Feelin' Cheeky! Minis
I found this so cute, and as I mentioned in my wish-list post, I really wanted this as I have never tried any of them.  They are quite small, but they are decently sized as well.

Item #11:
Kinder Egg Hunt Kit
I'll be honest, this is my second one is 3 weeks.  I finished my first one and I am almost finished my giant egg.  I love chocolate... if you couldn't tell.  I love Kinder, it is one of my favourite chocolate brands.

Item #12:
Oral B Crest 3D White Pulsar Brush
My new favourite toothbrush!  If you haven't heard of this brush yet it is a manual brush but it vibrates.  It is pricey but I got a pack of 4 for $16, which is a pretty good deal.  I am loving this brush so far!  I will most certainly be re-puchasing this - as well as the toothpaste which is my favourite as well.

Item #13:
7 For All Mankind Roxanne Skinny Brushed Indigo
I actually got these for free.  My brother's girlfriend gave me them.  I love 7 jeans, they are my favourite jeans brand.  Actually I take that back, True Religion and 7s are my favourite.  The way they fot and look is just BEAUTIFUL!!!

Item #14:
Burberry Nova Check Portrait Tote
AHHHHHHHHH!!! YESSS!  I got it!!! Okay, CALM DOWN!  As I have mentioned before on my blog, I wanted this tote for Europe.  I went to the mall yesterday, and I could not find it on the website anymore, so I was discouraged when I got to the mall.  I went to Holt Renfrew, where I originally found the bag and it was not there.  I went to Burberry and it was there, so I snatched up the LAST ONE!  I absolutely love it and the service was superb and you should see the packaging!

The packaging!
I know fancy!  I can't wait to use it and when I do a "What's In My Purse?" Post will be up!  Oh, on a side not I am still working on the Tory Burch Reva Flats Review.

I hope you enjoyed this post

Tips and Tricks: Get Healthy Looking Skin!

Hey girls!  So today I will be sharing with you some tips and tricks that can help you achieve healthy radiant skin.  I know a lot of girls do not have perfect skin but as usual we want what we cannot have, unless you have perfect skin.  So hopefully I can help you with a bit of skin trouble.  Feel free to leave your tips down below in the comments section!

1. Drink Lots of Water:

I know this is a commonly said one, the reason being water flushes unwanted toxins from your body - the same toxins that cause your skin problems.  Drink about 8 glasses of water a day, it will not work overnight but in the long run you will see a difference.  Staying hydrated is essential for glowing skin.

2. Eat Fruits and Veggies:

This one is also commonly said, if you want healthy skin you need to start with a healthy diet.  Fried food does break you out while fruits and veggies are healthy and are also great to prevent wrinkles!

3. Take Off Your Make-Up Before You Sleep:

This is super important if you want clear skin.  If you choose not to take off your make-up it can end up clogging your pores which causes unwanted break-outs.  Also, you skin needs to breathe, if you can avoid putting on make-up for a day!

4. Get A Lot of Sleep:

My dermatologist really stressed this one to me.  As a teen I know that I don't always get the 10 to 12 hours needed (YES! If you are a teen you need 10-12 not 8) , in fact I only get that much sleep on Sundays.  Unfortunately not getting your required amount of sleep is what causes skin irritations and problems.  While you sleep growth hormones peak and start cell and tissue repair.

5. Watch Out For The Sun:

Always wear sunscreen when exposed to the Sun.  Excessive sun exposure can cause your skin to irritate.  On a daily basis wear a face product with SPF in it, in pictures it is not ideal but if you want great skin keep it up on a daily basis.

6. Wash Your Face:

On top of the taking off your make-up I suggest you get a face wash, one that works for your skin.  Wash your face after you remove your make-up to ensure nothing is left over.  I would recommend getting one from a dermatologist, I use "pHisioHex" which is an antibacterial sudsing emulsion.  It works great for my skin paired with my spot treatment.

7. Use a Good Spot Treatment:
*This is not my spot treatment, I used it and it did not work for my skin

Using a spot treatment targets your little "imperfection" and depending on the spot treatment gets rid of it (usually by drying it out).  Remember to only apply this on your imperfections as it is concentrated and some maybe drying.

8. Exfoliate:

Exfoliating gets all the dead skin off your face.  If you want smooth skin use an exfoliater about once a week.  Using it everyday may cause your skin damage as it is rough on your skin.  Do not over rub as well for the exact because it might strip your skin.

Update: Europe!

Hey y'all so in about 2 weeks I am going on a plane to leave for France!  Yes, I am going to Europe, specifically France and England!  I am super-pumped about this trip, I have been counting down since 43 days ( trust me I have a countdown in my BBM name).  I have already posted a discussion about what should I pack for Europe (feel free to click the link to help!) on one of my new favourite sites elleandblair.com.

Eiffel Tower - Paris, France
I am staying in Europe for 10 days and I have a lot to see and do.  I have been to Europe before but this is the longest time period I will be gone for.  So....

London, England

I wanted to ask y'all a few questions!  Firstly, would you like me to blog about my experience there?  I will not be offended if you say 'no' by any means so feel free to voice your opinions!  I just thought it might be a great opportunity for some of y'all to see and experience Europe as if you were there.  Most of the pictures if not all of the pictures will be the scenery there.  I would not actually blog about it until I get back as I am not bringing my laptop but an iPad instead (my dad doesn't want anything happening to my MacBook Pro).  Secondly, have you ever been to Europe and where in Europe?  Tell me how your experience was!  I really wanted to know if any of you have been or live(d) in Italia (Italy) because I am part Italian, but I never got an opportunity to go.

Europe Attractions

Now for the non-related questions: this summer I am going to Turks and Caicos but I will not do a blog post on that so if I am MIA for a bit just understand that's why.  Also, I will be camping in August for a bit so do not expect too many blog posts.  The reason why I am telling you this now is because I doubt y'all want to read through another update.  Lastly, would you like "Look For Less" posts where I find a celebrity picture or any picture and find cheaper clothing items that can duplicate the look?  Please let me know!

A Little About Me: DANCE!

Hey y'all, so I have received a few personal messages about dance because I do mention it a lot.  As you can tell I am a dancer.  I have been dancing since the age of 6!  So, I started a long time ago.  I do dance competition and I am in the "professional" dance class at my school - my school focuses on the arts and sports (by arts their are special classes where auditions are required, the elements are: visual, vocal, instrumental, drama and dance).  Dance is one of my classes at school, it is a full period and I get graded on it.  I also dance in a studio where I take tap, jazz, ballet, acro and modern (contemporary).

Dance is my main hobby and I dance about 5-7 times a week!  I know that's a lot, and how do I juggle that with school work?  During competition season (which is right now), all else in my life freezes!  That means I drop guitar and skip some school days for competition.

Dance takes a lot of work and involves a bunch of cute and interesting costumes.  Not everyone can be a dancer, it is not easy.  I am not by any means a "black swan" in fact ballet is my least favourite class, but unfortunately it is a basic.  All the dancers at my school pretty much have the same schedule when it comes to dance.  Try dance out if you really want to but I must warn you it can cost a lot, costumes can be up to $200 and plus the shoes must always be replaced.  However, dance is one of the main reasons I am into make-up!

xx, tayy!

TAG: 11 Most Reached For Products

I know what you're thinking... "Really another tag..." but this one is rather quite helpful while the other tag was kind of random.  I will be writing an update soon where I will mention my upcoming trip to Europe.  Anyway here's the tag, but unfortunately I can't find my card reader so I couldn't upload my own pictures so all pictures are courtesy of Google Images.  By the way this is strictly make-up products only.

--

1. CoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation:
This is by far my foundation of choice at the moment! I love the lightweight feel it gives, not to mention the matte finish it gives my skin.  CoverGirl is one of my favourite brands and I always trust their products, in fact I got my first foundation from them.  "Redefine natural beauty with our lightweight silk foundation. With a touch of cucumber water and a hint of jojoba and rose hip extracts, our light yet luxurious formula takes heavy weight out of your polished finish."  Plus Taylor Swift looks flawless in the ads for this line.

--

2. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural:
In case you were wondering in the Winter I am the shade "Medium Plus" but in the Summer (when I get tan) I am the shade "Medium Dark".  I love this product sometimes I will wear this alone but other times I will wear this with my foundation.  This product also gives you a matte finish.  This is great for Summer, it is very light weight and it gives you a barely there feel, which is always good.  Lots of people set their foundation with this because it does give you some coverage.  By far my favourite powder (bareMinerals coming in second).

--

3. MAC Beauty Powder in "Cruella DeVil: Her Own Devices" - Limited Edition (Venomous Villains)
I absolutely love this colour on my skin tone.  I went to the MAC counter when the collection came out and wanted to get a beauty powder.  When I found out this was the only one left, my heart sank.  I watched MakeUpByTiffanyD (Tiffany) talked about how this beauty powder would not flatter anyone.  It is pretty much a pinky brown shimmery blush and applys sheerly but gives you a pretty flush!

4. bareMinerals Mineral Veil:
This is just a translucent a setting powder, although it does give you that"ghostly glow" in pictures, in person it just gives you the prettiest glowiest finish.  Something about this is just amazing to me, I cannot pin point it but your skin feels amazing when it's on and it kind of gives you an angelic glow, which is hard in a powder.  Since it is translucent, it flatters any skin tone.

5. CoverGirl Shimmering Sands Trio:
I know boring, BLAH!  I rarely wear eyeshadow but when I do and cannot decide which colour I usually gravitate towards this handy trio over any of my Bobbi Brown shadows (my favourite is Brunt Sugar) or MAC shadows.  When travelling for a little while I might want to wear eyeshadows so when I pack my make-up bag I always take this over anything else.  Go pick this trio up, it is cheap and pigmented but not chalky!

6. MAC Fluidline in "Blacktrack":
This is my favourite eyeliner of ALL TIME!  Basically it is a gel liner but i have had my first jar ( or whatever you would call the container) for about 5-6 months and I'm only half-way through and there is NO sign of it drying it.  I only have one colour, but I really can't wait to buy more.  To apply this I use a MAC 210 brush (which is a very thin and precise eyeliner brush).  I only use this on my upper lash line but I still use it practically everyday.

7. Almay Intense i-Colour Eyeliner in "Raisin Quartz":
I love Almay's Intense i-Colour Eyeliners, I have about five and love them all to death!  A close second to these pencil eyeliners are Rimmel's Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencils.  The reason I love this eyeliner in particular is because it is so unique.  This is a retractable eyeliner (with a sharpener on the end) in brown but it can turn purple throughout the day, so since I have brown/hazel eyes it really does make my eyes pop.  I only use this on the bottom waterline though.

8. EOS Lip Balm:
Left To Right: Honeysuckle Honeydew, Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint

I love these lip balms, they are super cute and well - known if you watch YouTube videos.  I have three and when I googled them, the first picture I saw was the one above, which are the three I have.  I have used up practically all of Summer Fruit which tastes and smells like peaches!  So, last week I went to pick up some more and I got Sweet Mint and Honeysucke Honeydew.  I haven't tried Honeysuckle Honeydew but I am in love with Sweet Mint, it smells exactly like the Mentha lip glossed from Bath and Body Works.  Not only do they taste amazing and smell good but they are super moisturizing.   Although every time I apply it I get a weird stare and people ask "What is that?" or "Why are you rubbing an egg on your lips?".

9. Kiehl's Lip Balm #1:
This lip balm is my little miracle worker.  I do not apply as often as the EOS but I do apply it every night before bed.  If I have really dry lips I'll apply ever 2-4 hours.  This is a gel lip balm that includes SPF 4 and helps heal chapped and dry lips, I apply this every night because it also prevents it as well.  If you ever have chapped, cracked or dry lips go pick this up and it will be your miracle worker.

10. CoverGirl NatureLuxe Gloss Balms:
These are amazing.  A lot of people do not like them or care for them because they are so sheer but they are buildable. The whole point of the NatureLuxe line was to achieve a barely there make-up look.  These gloss balms have SPF 15 in them and some are quite shimmery.  I own three of them: Coral (230), Marble (255 - Taylor is actually wearing this in the picture) and Tulip (205).  Basically these combine the lip gloss shine and the lightweight feel of a lip balm - the result a natural perfect sheer lip colour.

11. Korres Lip Butter in "Jasmine":
I love this, it smells delicious and is a pretty colour too!  I am not a real fan of lip gloss of lip stick although I do own a whole tonne of both but the real thing I usually wear on my lips in my Korres Lip Butter.  This is actually really cheap (about $10) but can do wonders for your lips.  It does moisturize but it also looks really great too.  These remind me of MAC's Lip Conditioners which I also love but don;t use as much.  You can also use these as a cheek colour too, although I have never tried it I think it will look great on your cheeks!

So those were my 11 most reached for make-up products.  I know what you are thinking, where's the mascara?  I do use mascara but I have not found one that I love and have re-purchased over and over again.  If you know of any great lengthening mascaras let me know and I will check it out.  Would you still like a Spring Nail Polish guide because I do have the nail colour wheel now.  Please let me know and what are your most reached for products>
